I have a nephew!

Finally, Abbott has arrived. He weighed 10 pounds even, was 21 inches long and is precious! Jack stayed with Jarred at Kelly and Ryan's house until it was ok for him to come meet Abbott. We had to wait in the waiting room for a little while before we could go up and I caught such a sweet expression on Jack's face. It's almost as if he knows Abbott's here! (or maybe it's because we kept talking about him.)
Here's the happy new family. He looks a little bit like his dad.
Jack is not poking him in the eye, but gently touching his head.
My favorite picture. He is kissing Abbott. These two are going to cause so much trouble! How fun.

Fort Kid, Happy Easter and Abbott's on his way!

On Saturday we took Jack to Fort Kid. It's downtown by World's Fair Park and it's a really neat place. It's a big wooden play area with swings, slides, monkey bars, etc. Jack had a blast. Sunday we spent a very chilly Easter at Popo and Momo Jo's. Jack hunted Easter eggs and after he found them he wanted "mo ayys". We took the plastic eggs and tossed them in the yard and let him find those. It was just as fun as hunting real eggs.

Walking across the bridge.
Through the tunnel.
Checking out the sunsphere downtown.
Found this egg by the tree, put it in the "tactor babbit".
Just watching tv with my peeps.

Check out Kelly's blog, Abbott will be here Friday- finally!

Something to think about.

I'm really not sure who I'll vote for yet, but this is certainly powerful. Check it out if you'd like.

24 hours

A lot can happen in 24 hours. Usually it doesn't, but my last 24 hours have been somewhat of a whirlwind. This time last night we were excited to have completed and e-filed our taxes and find out we were getting a refund- YAY! It's not a lot, but at least it is a refund. After a good night's rest, we woke up and started our day. Jack and I played "babbyball" and waited for a contractor and an engineer to show up and take another look at our house. We found out that this contractor can fix the house, and the engineer will sign off on it, for A LOT less that the insurance company has given us. Plus, we won't have to move out. YAY YAY! We still don't have a final estimate from him, but he gave us a guess and we liked it. :) After he left, Jack took a little nap andI began to find new insurance since our homeowner's insurance is being canceled after this claim. NOT YAY. Fortunately, I successfully found better coverage for a lower premium so I switched the auto insurance over too. After Jack woke up, we went over to Popo and Momo's for awhile and then headed to Jarred's office so he could take Jack home and I could pick up a few things at the store. As we were waiting for Jarred at his office, mom calls and says that Kelly is headed to the hospital but doesn't really think she's in labor- she'll call us once she gets there. I begin to get excited that Abbott may be finally making an appearance but on my way home from the store, Jarred calls and says that Jack has thrown up. NOT YAY again. He was totally fine when I left him with Jarred and even once they got home, how could he be sick? Now, I definitely don't want Abbott to make an appearance because I have a sick baby! I get home and Jack had thrown up again and was in the bath crying. He laid in my lap for 3 hours just as still as could be... and you all know how often Jack sits still. Mom calls and says that Kelly is headed home, she's not in labor so while I'm really ready to meet Abbott, I'm glad he didn't come today so I could stay and take care of Jack and not be anxious to be in Nashville. Jack perked up a little and played a little more babbyball before going to bed. He's now asleep, Kelly's at home not having a baby and I'm hoping tomorrow (my 21st birthday) is a quieter 24 hours!

Little Drummer Jack

Uncle Ryan let Jack play with his drums last weekend. I think Uncle Ryan is going to have to get Jack some drums for his birthday. :) Push play, it will come up even though there's nothing there now.

Spring is in the Air

We are so excited that the weather is getting warmer. Jack was having fun helping Popo and Momo clean out the flower bed and get it ready for new flowers. He had his own shovel and everything.
"Hey, y'all get back to work!"
Getting dirty.
Helping Popo pull some weeds.
Man, I worked hard today.

HELP!

So you all know about the tree falling on our house, right? Well we've got the insurance money and headed to the bank to open a separate account so we don't confuse this money with our normal money (ha). As we are about to finalize everything the bank associate informs us that we need to get the check endorsed by the mortgage company since it was also made out to them. No problem, we'll just bring it back and deposit it. He says he'll just put a hold on the account until we come back. Well... once I get to the mortgage company they can't endorse it because of the amount. I have to send it to corporate and they endorse it. So... I call the bank and they say no big deal, they'll just hold the account until we get the money. They've already set it up for online banking and we've already got the checks so when I go online to take a look at my other accounts I notice that the new account is, ready??? $1,000,000,000.00 in the NEGATIVE. Yes, one billion dollars. AHHH! So, I am counting on all my family and friends to help bail us out of this mess. Don't worry, I won't be greedy. You can send one or two million this month and then a few million next month. I realize it will take awhile to get back in the plus.

Oh, by the way... the repairs on our house and the insurance check was NOT for one billion dollars. I'm really not sure why the account shows that. However, I will be happy to take the million dollar donations! :)

Getting Ready for Abbott

There were just too many pictures to post in one blog so here's the rest from our trip to Nashville.
Jack is getting braver and braver around Roxie and he even "pay rary rope". He would hold the rope and Uncle Ryan would tell Roxie when to jump and get it. Jack got a big kick out of her jumping.
Jack often asks us to turn "mumicnon" so Popo and Moma Jo took advantage of music on and danced.
Kelly got quite a few things at her shower. This is the quilt that Abbott's great Wannie made for him.
Jack made a new friend, Carson, at the shower. She is one month older than him and super cute. I think it's a little early to start picking Jack's girlfriends but I would approve of Carson.
Jack is going to be so confused when baby Abbott actually arrives. I think right now that Kelly's belly is a baby Abbott. He loves the belly, nonetheless.

Snow Fun

When we lived in Amarillo, there was a saying that if you didn't like the weather, wait 15 minutes and it would change. I'm beginning to think that applies to just about anywhere you may live. We went to Nashville this weekend for another baby shower for Kelly and we woke up Saturday to about 2 inches of snow. This is this first significant amount of snow Jack has seen and all morning he wanted to "pay no". So, we played in the snow and he loved it. Of course, the child came out in me and I made a snow angel. Oh wait... the child is always in me!!!

What a Kid!!

It is amazing how fast "baby" Jack is changing into "toddler" Jack. He has such a vocabulary and is able to communicate so well. I'll share a few conversations with you.

Saturday we helped our friend Bailey celebrate her first birthday. We went shopping for her birthday present and after choosing a CD at Border's we made a trip to Wal-Mart. We discussed buying things for Bailey for her birthday and as I handed Jack a set of cleaning pads he said, "Bay Bay." I asked if he wanted to give those to Bailey and he gave me his silly face grin and laughed.
On the way to the party he wanted to take his "yew off" in the car. I told him not to take his shoes off, we were going to see Bailey and Amy. He said, "Eat Bay Bay, eat Amy." Yes Jack, we'll eat with Amy and Bailey once we get to their house. Again, I got the silly face grin. I think that means he likes the answer I give him!
Today we went to Popo and Momo's to enjoy the nice weather. Jack walks in and calls for "Ju", which is George the cat. George was taking in some sun. After approximately 30 seconds of being there he said, "drive Popo tractor". Guess who got to drive Popo's tractor? Even Momo drove Popo's tractor. After that he went "up up up, now now now" the hill in the backyard.
Mom and I got suckered into some girl scout cookies today and we chose thin mints. Once we got home we offered one to Jack. I think he actually ate about 4 and kept saying, "more chachit cookie."
Once we got home, he helped Jarred clean out the garage. He is quite talented with a "weep" and we let him do it whenever he wants. It is also important to sweep and have a bucket handy.

Our favorite conversations usually go a lot like this:

Mom: Jack, what do you want to eat?
Jack: ha dog
Mom: You want a hot dog?
Jack: noonels
Mom: You want a hot dog and noodles?
Jack: No

Mom: Jack, today we get to go to gymnastics!
Jack: nanics!
Mom: Let's get your clothes on so we can go.
Jack: No
Mom: Do you want to go to gymnastics?
Jack: No

I think you get the idea. :)
