All Fall Down!

Here are some photos of the tree cutting down experience in our yard this morning. They ended up either cutting or knocking down about 10 trees. It was really impressive to watch and now we have a HUGE mess in our backyard. If anyone wants to come for the weekend and help cut up trees, we'll feed you! The pictures really don't show just how many trees are down and how much there is to cut up and haul away. The huge dead oak tree that the guy is climbing was about 85 feet tall and they cut down a pine that was bigger than that. There's a video at the end of the oak falling. Anyone need some firewood?

This guy knew what he was doing. He could get the trees to fall just where he wanted. I'd like to say it he was super hot and a joy to watch but he wasn't.

I was trying to capture just how big around the tree was, but it really doesn't do it justice.

It's falling.

Look closely and you can see the rope they used to pull it in the right direction. The only mishap was one branch fell the wrong way in the backyard and took out 2 boards on the fence. They fixed it, even though the whole fence really needs to be replaced.

You can see leaves in the air as this tree was falling. This is the only one they took down in the front yard.

The mess.

More of the mess. On the far right you can see trees down. That's actually in our neighbor's yard. Fortunately there are no neighbors living in that house right now.

Look at what a helper I am! I supervised! (Like I would have been any help!)
