Memphis Part I

Well we are having a great time in Memphis. Kelly, Abbott, Jack and I met our good friends Kent, Dixie, Daxtyn, Dayton and Dacie in Memphis for their spring break. They are insane Elvis fans and I told them they just had to come to Graceland. And of course, since everyone listens to me, they did. We met Saturday morning at the Peabody Hotel and watched the ducks march in, had lunch at Rendezvous and then Kelly, Jack, Abbott and I came and checked into our hotel to rest. The rest rode a river boat. After that we went to this insanely busy pizza place for dinner and arcade games. It was great. This morning we went to the Memphis zoo and I am currently keeping tabs on 2 sleeping babies while Kent, Dixie, Daxtyn and Dayton go to Sun Studio. Kelly and Abbott had to head back today but we are very glad they joined us for part of our fun. Dacie and Jack are too small to tour Sun Studio so since I've been, I offered to let them rest. They are both currently sleeping (not together) and it is very cute. Here are just a few (or more) pictures from our first day and a half.

The best shot of all 5 kids together.

Abbott loved the ducks and was quite unhappy when it was time to leave them.

Jack was just a little exhausted after getting up really early and not sleeping in the car on the drive to Memphis, but he still enjoyed seeing the ducks.

Kelly and I split a rack of ribs at Rendezvous. They were quite tasty.

I thought this was a funny sign. They are really good ribs.

Here are Jack and Abbott resting back at the hotel.

Abbott is checking out the plumbing in our bathroom. He determined that it is all good.

I got Dacie these rock star glasses and I heard a rumor that she slept with them Saturday night.

Kent had to sit at the kids table because all the kids were at the adult table. Kent is on this trip, I just didn't manage to get any pictures of him on this post.

Jack's face just about sums up how we felt about the pizza place. Lesson learned: Don't go back on a Saturday night.

Jack trying to play skee ball.

Jack's ticket haul. He hit the jackpot on one game where you had to push the button and get this light to say jackpot. No one else could get it.

Where is the best place for 5 kids to play in a hotel room?

All 5 at the zoo entrance.

Jack didn't want to see animals. He wanted to stay at the water all day.

3 mischievous little boys. They are having a great time together. They started running off down the hall at the hotel and Abbott reached out for them. Next time, he'll be able to run with them!

The Memphis zoo is very open and the animals aren't just in cages. You can see them really well. It really makes you feel like you're closer to the animals... like these cute kittens here.

There was this one monkey who kept following us around.

Kelly & Jack making their silly face.

If you look closely, Kelly is pointing at this enormous snake. He ate a 30 pound pig yesterday and will not need to eat again for 3 months. We were so in awe over the size of the snake that I can't remember what kind it was.

Kelly got artsy and got this cute picture.

Abbott loves the zoo!

Here are the silly boys again!

Jack and Dayton are checking out the ducks.

Can you say rock star?

Funny story about Jack praying to Buddha, here. He just walked up and had his hands like this and Dixie and I both look over and wonder how he knows to pray to Buddha. Later, we realize he had flowers in his hands and was pressing them together.

Just a picture to let you know that my sister and I are not silly.

See, not silly at all.

Abbott is checking out the ostriches.

2 of the cutest boys I have ever known. Dayton and Jack.
We have had a blast so far and tomorrow is Graceland so it's just gonna get better! Stay tuned for more!
